Express Entry review 2020: The year 2020 has been a record-breaking yet disappointing year for the Canada Express Entry aspirants because for the majority of the year outland applicants are sidelined.
Many applicants are not able to submit their profile due to restrictions around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and those who submitted their profile, had gone through comparatively longer processing times.
From the record-breaking number of Invitations to Apply for Canada Express Entry, to the restrictions implemented on the outland candidates, there was an atmosphere of confusion throughout the year. Let’s check numbers and data for Canada Express Entry during the year 2020.

Number of Express Entry draw
A total of 37 draws for Canada Express Entry were conducted during the year 2020 which was higher than the past trend of an average of 2 draws per month.
Out of 37 draws, 17 all programs draw, 9 CEC draw,10 PNP draw, and 1 FST draw.

16 back to back were conducted for Canadian Experience Class and Province Nominee Program candidates during the period March-June 2020.
The first time since the implementation of Express Entry Stream, 6 draw were conducted in a single month of April 2020 and 11700 ITA was issued.
There was no All program draw conducted for at least 4 months due to Covid-19 restrictions around the world. IRCC focused on inviting Inland applicants through Canada Experience Class (CEC ) and Province Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.

Invitation to apply issued in 2020
Total 107350 ITA issued in the year 2020 which 22050 higher than the last year numbers of 85300, out of which 71400 ITA issued under all program category while 30915 ITA issued under CEC and 4785 ITA issued under PNP and 250 ITA issued under FST category.
IRCC CRS score shows a roller coaster trend during the mid of the year. Due to alternate draws conducted for CEC and PNP category. However, CRS for all program drawing remained on the higher side between 478 to 468.
The last draw of the year brought some relief to the aspirants with the score dropping to 468 ( lowest of the year ).
IRCC met their Express Entry plan for 4th consecutive year. Infact in the year 2020, they surpassed their Express Entry yearly target by a huge margin.

This trend has brought relief to the candidates who are still there in the Express Entry pool and yet to receive an Invitation to Apply for Canada Immigration.
Minimum CRS Score
A CRS cut-off is declared in each draw to select the candidates from the Express Entry Pool. This year CRS cut-off remained on the higher side for all program draw with the lowest score of 468 being registered in the last draw of the year on 23rd Dec 2020.
The lowest CRS cut-off score for the Federal Skilled Worker Program stream was 415, and it was also the lowest score for any draw in 2020. The lowest CEC score requirement was 431 on June 25. For PNP specific draw the lowest score registered was 687.
What to expect in 2021
Canada planned to invite 401,000 new immigrants in the year 2021and out of which 108,500 to be invited through the Express Entry Stream. Therefore, Candidates can expect the same pattern of the larger draw during the next year and there is the hope of a drop-in CRS score as well.
